House Majority Leader says Governor LePage is a “POS”

The Democratic Party here in Maine has portrayed itself as the standard of morality. Everytime a legislator carelessly shared a meme that offended a specific group, they were all over the topic. Just ask Representative John Picchiotti or Senators Michael Willette and Jeff Pierce. There’s also the liberal attempts to smear Representative Lawrence Lockman for comments made literally decades ago.

Note they were all Republicans though, partisan opponents of the Democratic Party.

Here is a screenshot that was circulating on Facebook of Representative McCabe’s own words:

The problem with the Maine Democratic Party, is its a structure of lies built upon a foundation of hypocrisy. The easily offended party once offended Chinese Americans with an Fortune Cookie mailer that was culturally inaccurate and wholly offensive. They also weren’t overly concerned when they supported a product of national progressive special interest groups who once ripped a paraplegic Representative for not standing up, for Mayor in Lewiston.

It’s all about party label and partisan politics, and perhaps that’s why Representative McCabe isn’t a problem. Sure, he didn’t make his comments in the form of a meme and that’s why we’ll never see a profiling of his extensive timeline, but the comments still deserve attention.

Let’s bring a flashback to the Democrats attention. Portland Press Herald reported on January 14th (not even a month ago):

Republicans voted unanimously against the impeachment order and also opposed the separate resolution praising bipartisanship and cooperation, which passed 81-55.

The resolution, which largely mirrors the Legislature’s code of ethics, extols the virtues of statesmanship and working together for the common good. Nowhere does it name LePage, with the closest reference coming in oblique language – such as a passage asserting that “the negative conduct and harmful actions of one do not represent the whole of Maine.”

It would seem that by the lack of general outrage, Democrats do not believe calling people a “POS” violates the idea of “working together for the common good.”

For those who wish to make the argument that “POS” in Internet slang is not vulgar, let’s take a page from an Internet source on the topic.

Internetslang.com defines “POS” as follows:

The definition of POS is “Piece Of S**t” or “Parent Over Shoulder”

Two possibilities exist. Just two.

Either Representative McCabe believes Governor LePage is a “Piece of s**t” or his parents are looking over his shoulder. Odds are it’s the former, for we’d hope that no parents would consent to their kid using vulgar language to describe another individual.

Here’s a direct quote from Representative McCabe himself on the responsibility of a legislator:

“For me … it’s a simple fact that when we are elected officials, we have a duty to provide a level of leadership and … it’s not like we can turn off being a state rep and have a personal Facebook page,” he said. “The comments that we have influence citizens and at a time of a national tragedy, to promote hatred is just not appropriate.”

Apparently in the words of the Democrats’ star House Majority Leader, the level of leadership legislators have a duty to provide is calling people a POS. Furthermore, calling people a POS has influence with citizens.

But please note, promoting hatred is inappropriate.

Hatred, being defined by Dictionary.com as:

the feeling of one who hates; intense dislike or extreme aversion or hostility.

Now given that Representative McCabe defines hatred as sharing a Facebook meme that has controversial comments on it, wouldn’t actually typing the acronym for “piece of s**t” qualify as hatred? Logically.

While we have the dictionary open, let’s define another word.

Hypocrite:

1. a person who claims or pretends to have certain beliefs about what is right but who behaves in a way that disagrees with those beliefs. (Merriam-Webster)

2. A hypocrite preaches one thing, and does another. You’re a hypocrite if you criticize other people for wearing fur, but pull out your big mink jacket as soon as it gets cold. (Vocabulary.com)

3. of the nature of hypocrisy, or pretense of having virtues, beliefs, principles, etc., that one does not actually possess (Dictionary.com)

4. Representative Jeff McCabe (See above)

When will Democratic leadership stop being deceitful liars and cease pretending to have any moral backbone whatsoever? They only feign outrage over things their partisan opponents say, but otherwise turn their heads when one of their own acts inappropriate.
